Really, God wants you to appreciate Life.
Why be born on this Earth? Is suffering your reality? Are you doomed to a life of having no money, no food, no money for utilities or shelter??
God put the amazing into every little thing in life. You will come to appreciate it as you grow older and wiser.
In the past, when you were young, you ate food without knowing how laborious was the process of its production — from planting, to harvesting, to transportation, to shelf packing, to buying, to cooking, and serving. That process of getting food is at least 6 months long — mostly waiting for it to grow. Nowadays, we eat our mixed vegetables rice that has so much variety and good taste; that has taken so much time to grow and harvest, like it’s the food of the poor china man, rather than a meal fit for a king of the old days. Really, God wants you to eat like a King. So He makes good food affordable.
As I grow older, I really appreciate things that have colour. Like the colourful packaging of snacks and the golden orange of pineapple tart tidbits. These treats done artfully and with baking precision are there to delight the senses. So… God wants you to be delighted.
Then there are the movies; the stories of life that move us emotionally; the screen action that excites the mind; the insightful documentaries that educate us about the world; the cooking show that teaches you how to be a chef. God wants you to learn… and He gave you a television to teach you everything by watching shows. There was no TV in the past, you know? We taught and told stories by acting, theatre, campfire nights, school lectures, lessons passed down by apprenticeship. Basically people entertaining people LIVE. Nowadays, your video-on-demand television is a world of its own. Your YouTube video portal is also a world on the Internet. Some people are not in the habit of watching any video. So as a result, you did not make use of God’s Television, and so you do not have much mental representation of the world in your mind. You don’t know how Cairo looks or what people cook in the Andes mountains. If you watch television, you will see much of the world by “telescope vision” — television. And that is what God wants… He wants You to be Educated.
What is better than eating some nuts and drinking beer while watching television? And that nut… do you know how laborious it is to crack open enough nuts to fill that bowl of nuts you are munching? Do you know it must be cracked open from its nutshell? Or you think it just comes shell-less and smooth like you see in the packet or jar of nuts you buy from the supermarket? They pay people full daily salaries to crack these nuts open. Just for you! So when you buy that packet of nuts, know that a lot of work has gone into planting, growing, harvesting, cracking, cleaning, packaging, and shelving it for you to purchase. Having that packet of nuts available on the supermarket shelf is an achievement of mankind! God wants you to appreciate the work involved in harvesting and processing your nuts and beer. Not to mention the ingenuity of the invention of the television and the hard work acting, filming, and editing all these free shows you enjoy and learn from!
Do you know in the old days, you had to wash your clothes in the river?? You had to buy your own soap from the chemist and scrub it on your clothes on a rock in the river, while rinsing it in river water, wringing it dry, and slapping the cloth on a rock to get it clean! Nowadays, your washing machine saves you 99% of that labour! So convenient is this miracle of laundry. It washes, spins, drys — it can take a soiled outfit and make it clean with its machine run by electricity rather than using your muscle power to wash in a river. Imagine I’m a futurist of the old days and we are standing by the Ganges River in India. I say, “Hey man, one day in future… there will be a magic tool that will wash your clothes for you!” And you shake your head and say, “Don’t dream man… keep washing!” As you continue to beat your clothing on the rock.
Next is your car. Are you fortunate enough to drive a car? It’s okay, most people don’t own one. But if you do… know that driving a car is like piloting your own aeroplane. You’re gliding it down the streets, turning and accelerating… it’s a thrill. Many people just drive around for fun — to sightsee the country. A car can carry your friends and family; it can carry things. Imagine carrying your groceries on top of your head while walking 8 miles just to bring the food home! Your super aeroplane! Your car! Is so powerful an invention — it will cross all that distance and carry all your stuff for you and get you home in 5 minutes rather than 5 hours. Plus OMG… can you see how laborious is the process of mining petrol from the ocean floor — digging, siphoning, and refining all that crude oil to bring you petrol? God does not want you to tire yourself crossing distance and carrying weight… so he invents you a car! It’s fun to drive, it gets you where you want to go, and you can bring along anyone and anything you like.
Finally, your computer. Everyone should have one of these babies. It allows me to write this article for you. It is your portal to view the Internet. It can calculate spreadsheets and do graphic design, video editing, 3D modelling, computational statistics, email, video streaming, music, e-banking, ebooks, a dictionary, podcasts, a daily calendar, notepad, reminders and so much more!! Amazing power is the computer. And it’s only a few thousand dollars. In the old days, this baby would cost $1 million dollars for that desktop you are using, or $2 million for that portable iPad. God gives you productivity, creativity, education, and entertainment in one convenient device known as THE COMPUTER.
Really, as you grow older, you begin to appreciate all these things you took for granted when you were younger. I also love my fridge! No more keeping rotting food in the cupboard! Now it stays fresh! Totally ingenious. God wants you to have a food supply that lasts weeks and months rather than hours of edibility only. And can you appreciate the process of producing electricity to power all your electronic machines? It’s incredible work! Really, you are a blessed child to be living in these modern times. Know that God loves you and He wants you to be happy, well, and successful, so He gives you all His inventions for you to appreciate in life.
Shalom,
